THE PLANNING PROCESS
Working with a designer can pull all the pieces of your kitchen puzzle together. We will keep you from getting bogged down in details that can
throw your planning off track. You’ll be free to dream, while the designer thinks through all the measurements, material coordination, and
construction logistics.
Before meeting with a designer, consider:
What you and your family like and dislike about your current kitchen. Bring a rough floor plan of your kitchen with you.
What general styles you like—contemporary, traditional, or eclectic.
Whether you want your kitchen to reflect the architectural style of your home.
What designs have caught your attention—bring photos or magazine tear-outs of your favorites.
When you want your new kitchen to be ready.
How much you want to spend.
What questions you have about the designer’s work and about the remodeling process in general.
How we work:
The process of remodeling your kitchen or other rooms within your home may seem like a daunting task. Don’t be intimidated by the
seeming enormity of the undertaking. Whether you are remodeling or building a new home, your project will be more of an evolution
than an event, requiring planning and coordination that we will help you through. While every project is different, the information that
follows summarizes the general flow of most projects:
Before we meet:
Gather information and pictures that show styles and products that appeal to you. Use kitchen and bath magazines as well as
decorating and remodeling magazines to help identify your preferences. You are welcome to visit the showroom to find design
inspiration in our extensive kitchen and bath library. Stocked with kitchen and bath design magazines, you’re sure to find a picture to
illustrate the style you’re looking for.
To organize your thoughts regarding your new kitchen, print out our Design Preferences page, fill in your answers, and bring this
information with you to our showroom.
Establish a budget with which you are comfortable.
If you are building a new home, get a floor plan from your builder or architect.
Contact Tammy at the CABINET COTTAGE at (772) 225-2008 for an appointment.
When you call our showroom, we will:
Answer any questions you may have regarding our products and services.
Schedule an appointment to come to your home for remodel projects or at our
showroom for new construction.
During our first visit:
For remodel projects, we will sketch your floor plan while taking exact room dimensions. We will view your existing kitchen in relation to
the surrounding rooms. In our design work, the kitchen is not treated as a separate entity. Therefore, the architectural detailing of your
home, your home's design theme, and the use of color, texture, and scale will all be carefully observed by us and discussed with you so
that a natural visual connection to the kitchen can be established.
For new construction, we will make a copy of your floor plan.
Listen to your needs and desires and share our preliminary thoughts regarding your project. If the scope of your project requires a
general contractor, we can recommend a professional with a solid track record.
Subsequent meetings:
Provide professional planning and design services, including hand-rendered and/or computer-aided floor plans, elevations and
perspective drawings. Click on pictures to the right to see an example.
Discuss design and cabinet construction options and any modifications you would like to make.
Once you have chosen the floor plan that is right for you, you will select interior cabinet options, fine tune the theme of the kitchen, discuss
decorative detailing, explore color, and select countertops. We will take all the time necessary to fully develop your unique "look." We will
then finalize the working drawings that include but are not limited to a floor plan, elevation view and perspective drawings. All drawings
and plans remain the property of Cabinet Cottage, Inc until a deposit towards a purchase is made. This deposit is 10% of the preliminary
estimate, or a minimum of $1000. The deposit will be applied to the first payment upon signing your finalized contract.
After we have finalized the plans, we will then present you with a complete cost for your cabinetry, which will include installation, sales tax,
delivery, decorative hardware and storage if required . Decorative details, which we feel would further enhance your design, will be
presented and options to eliminate items, thus reducing costs, can also be presented per your request.
*All cabinetry installation is carried out by Chris Bradley, Co-Owner/ licensed and insured installer.
We look forward to the opportunity of working with you in creating a new and beautiful environment for you and your family.
